STORY: Thick fog engulfed the tomb of Jahangir, a 17th-century mausoleum built for the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, located in Shahdara Bagh near Pakistan’s second biggest city Lahore on Saturday (January 6). 
In Pakistan fog is common in wintertime between December and February. January is usually the coldest month, according to Pakistan Metrological Department.
The minimum temperature at Shahdra was 6 degree Celsius on Saturday.
Visitors, many of them from nearby Lahore city said they arrived there to breathe in a cleaner atmosphere.
“I came from Lahore to visit Shahdra with my friends. They invited me here and they suggested that in Lahore there is a very big problem of smog, so I just came (down) here to breathe in peaceful environment,”said visitor Ahmed Aftab.
“Lahore is the dirtiest city (of Pakistan) with lot of pollution there. People are habitual of burning garbage to keep them warm wherever they gather. There is less pollution here. This place is getting cleaner as compared to the past. The atmosphere is better because of lots of trees here,”said another visitor Mohammad Arshad.
Met Office informed on January 2 that prevailing dense foggy conditions will continue over Punjab including Islamabad, plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh. 
Due to foggy conditions day temperatures are likely to drop 03 to 05 (℃) in coming days. Very cold weather conditions are likely to prevail in fog affected areas. Exposure to foggy environment may cause health issues, warned Met office.
Flights, Railways and Highways/Motorways operations may be disrupted. Travelers are advised to remain cautious during the foggy days, it further said. 
Prevailing foggy conditions disrupted flight operations in Peshawar and Islamabad and traffic on some motorways on Thursday (January 4).
