The Caretaker Prime Minister recently led an engaging roundtable discussion on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Beijing.   A diverse group of academics, scholars, and researchers from prominent Chinese think tanks and academic institutions gathered at the roundtable.  

During the event, the Prime Minister discussed Pakistan's vision for CPEC, emphasizing the importance of regional connectivity and sustainable development.   He highlighted the significant impact of CPEC on transforming the socio-economic landscape of Pakistan in the past decade.
The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of CPEC in the strong and enduring partnership between Pakistan and China, which is built on mutual understanding and respect.  

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of reflecting on the progress made by CPEC in the past decade. It is important to acknowledge the achievements, learn from the experiences, and plan for the next phase of the project's development.   He also mentioned that both parties had reached an agreement to transform CPEC into a pathway of progress, prosperity, creativity, inclusivity, and sustainable development.

Chinese academics and scholars emphasized the significance of CPEC as a strong partnership between Pakistan and China under BRI.   Chinese companies have expressed their ongoing interest in investing in Pakistan's Special Economic Zones and supporting the growth of CPEC, regional connectivity, and sustainable development.

During the roundtable discussion, all participants reached a consensus on the potential of CPEC to serve as a catalyst for regional trade and connectivity, as well as fostering closer people-to-people connections.
