The bomb disposal personnel have just conducted inspection and they say that about 8 to 10 kilograms of locally made explosive material has been used in it. Four people have been wounded. Three of them are stable whereas one is in critical condition. They are being treated at Lady Reading hospital. Further investigation is underway by the investigation teams and the bomb disposal teams."

STORY: At least four people, including a woman, were wounded when a bomb ripped through a car in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar on Saturday (January 5), a senior police official said.

The blast took place in Peshawar’s Kali Bari market in Saddar area in the morning time.

Peshawar police chief Qazi Jamil said that eighth to 10 kilograms of explosive material was used in the blast. He said that the explosive material was installed in a car which was parked near a mosque.

The car was completely destroyed in the explosion. Nearby shops were damaged owing to the impact of the blast.

Jamil said the injured were moved to Lady Reading Hospital. He said one wounded person was in critical condition.

Security forces cordoned off the area.

Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shaukat Ali Yousafzai while condemning the attack in Kali Bari market said the blast was done to create fear.

Peshawar is the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blast

The violence has decreased in Pakistan in recent years after military launched many offensives against militant strongholds in the northwest.
