Story

STORY:  Afghanistan under 19 cricket team on Sunday (December 19) left Kabul to participate in the Asia Cup cricket tournament  which will be played from December 23 December  31, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

 

Eight teams – Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, UAE, India and Kuwait  -- will participate in the tournament.

India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and UAE have been placed in group A, while Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka, Nepal and Kuwait teams are in group B.

 

The Afghan Cricket team will play their first match against Pakistan  on December 23, whereas arch rivals Pakistan and India will face each other on December 25.


Speaking to media before their departure, Afghan cricket players, demanded the International community to support the Afghan team amid the critical conditions that their country was faced with.

 

Afghan Cricket Board Chairman, Mirwais Ashraf,  said they had allowed their players to play at the international level withoiy any restrictions.


“  Yes, we , the Cricket Board, do have a policy which we need to follow,  and we will follow that policy.  ICC has no problems with our policy, and God willing, we will soon share our decisions with ICC,” he said
