The KL Summit is an initiative of the Malaysian Prime Minister together with the participation of leaders, scholars and intellectuals. It is a platform to exchange views on the current challenges and to work together to address them. KL Summit will provide Pakistan with the opportunity to exchange views and find solutions to the challenges facing the Muslim World, particularly governance, development, terrorism and Islamophobia. The Summit will also provide us an opportunity to foster cooperation in diverse areas with the participating countries.”

STORY:  Pakistani  Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Malaysia later this month to attend the first Kuala Lumpur Summit that is being held to discuss the problems faced by the Muslim Ummah.
The summit is being held in the Malaysian capital from December 18 to 20 , and will be attended by leaders from Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan and Qatar in addition to host Malaysia.

“On the invitation of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Prime Minister will be participating in the Kuala Lumpur Summit due to take place in Kuala Lumpur from 18th to 20th December, 2019,” Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad  Faisal told a weekly briefing in Islamabad on Friday (December 6).

“ The KL Summit is an initiative of the Malaysian Prime Minister together with the participation of leaders, scholars and intellectuals. It is a platform to exchange views on the current challenges and to work together to address them. KL Summit will provide Pakistan with the opportunity to exchange views and find solutions to the challenges facing the Muslim World, particularly governance, development, terrorism and Islamophobia. The Summit will also provide us an opportunity to foster cooperation in diverse areas with the participating countries,” Faisal added.

According to statements from the Malaysian government, the event’s theme is ‘The Role of Development in Achieving National Sovereignty’, and is an initiative of  Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohammad to gather five Muslim nation namely Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Qatar and the host Malaysia to discuss ways and means  of achieving socio-economic development in the Muslim World..

The Summit is expected to  discuss issues related to the Muslim Ummah , like peace, security, defence, trade and investment; technology and internet governance; development and sovereignty; integrity; good governance; culture and identity; and justice and freedom.

The spokesman also informed the briefing that prime minister Imran Khan will be visiting Geneva on December 17-18 to co-convene the first Global Refugees Forum in December ”in recognition of Pakistan's generosity, hospitality and compassion for hosting the Afghan refugees for over four decades.”
He said several heads of states were expected to join Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Global Refugees Forum, the first major meeting on refugees in 21st century, which would be jointly hosted by UNHCR, UN Refugees Agency and the Swiss government.
