STORY: Score of demonstrators belonging to a students organisation took to streets of Pakistan's biggest city Karachi on Friday (December 28) to protest against ongoing violence in Indian held Kashmir.

The angry protesters shouted slogans against India and burned down picture of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Indian flag in the demonstration organised by Muslim Students Organisation.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred a youth, Ashfaq Ahmed Wani, during a cordon and search operation in Karewas Renzipora area of Pulwama district on Friday (December 28).

Indian occupation force had killed 14 innocent Kashmiris and injured more than 200 protesters during a surge of violence over a week ago.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the continuing brutal massacre of innocent Kashmiris by India.

The protesters urged United Nations to intervene to stop the genocide of Kashmiri Muslims.

"Indian army should immediately halt atrocities on Kashmiri Muslims. Action should be taken and this issue should be resolved by United Nations where it is lying on back burner for many years. Kashmiris should be given their rights. India has been denying their freedom for the last 70 years and they are being tyrannised. We humbly appeal that Kashmiris should be given their rights and the freedom,"said a protest leader, Malik Ishtiaq Ahmed.

The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, on Friday (December 28), strongly denounced the frequent cordon and search operations by Indian troops in south Kashmir, terming the act as a collective punishment.

Meanwhile, forceful demonstrations were held in Hyderpora, Maisuma, Nowhatta, Dargah Hazratbal and other areas of Srinagar against the killing spree unleashed by the Indian troops across the occupied territory.

Muslim-majority Kashmir is divided between nuclear-armed neighbours, who both claim the mountainous region in full and have fought two of their three wars over it since their separation in 1947.
